January08;meeting was attended by 35members.it was held in shipra hotel,on 17jan.Dr J.Maheshwary from delhi was invited as guest speaker,he gave talks about “fractures around knee”
February meeting was held in shipra hotel on21st feb. Guest speaker Dr R.narsimhan, pediatric orthopedician from Apollo hospital,delhi,was invited to speak on ‘some dialemmas in pediatric fractures”.It was attended by 26members.
March meeting was held in Hotel Krishna sagar,on 30^th march,speaker was our own club member Dr Dhirendra Singh.He discussed on current management protocol of “Lower back pain”
April meet was held on 25^th april in orthopedic auditorium of IMA hall.Dr Abhay Alhens from subharti medical college was invited as guest speaker.His topic of discussion was “rationale approach for management of acetabular fractures.”Meeting was attended by 18 members.
May meet was web conference,speaker was Dr N.S Laud from Mumbai.He discussed on “trauma challenges in new millennium”. Meeting was attended by 27 members.Venue was hotel Mela Plaza.
June meet was held at I.M.A Bhavan.It was attended by 28 members.Proff A.S.Dubey from meerut was speaker,he spoke on “proximal humoral fractures in elderly”.Second Speaker was DR Dhirendra Singh,he discussed on “role of spasmolytics in musculo-skeletol disorders”.
July Meet was held on19.07.08 at Hotel melaplaza.It was a web conference, attended by 17members. Speaker was Dr Ashok Johri,his topic of discussion was “elbow fractures in children”.
August meet was held on 21.08.08 in I.M.A Bhawan.Guest speaker Dr V.K.Sadhu was invited to speak on “How to tackle malunited periarticular fractures” Meeting was attended by 23 members.September meet was held on 01.09.08 in I.M.A Hall.DR Arwind Chopra,Rheumatologist/Immunologist was invited from PUNE as Guest speaker.He discussed on “management on rheumatoid arthritis”
October meet was held at hotel Mela-Plaza on 15.10.08.It was web conference,members had active discussion with Dr D.D.Tanna, speaker from Mumbai. His topic was “interlocking-critical review”.It was attended by 19members.
November meeting was held in Hotel royal regency. Dr Geeta Anand,radiologist from delhi was invited as Guest lecture,to speak on “M.R.I in knee trauma”. Other Speaker was Dr Dhirendra Singh,he discussed on “nalbuphine-newer opiod analgesic”
December meet,like every year,was family meet. Elections were also held for President,Secretory and Treasurer for year 2009.DR V.loiwal was elected President,Dr Alok sharma was elected secretory of club and Dr Akhilesh was again elected Treasurer unanimously for coming year.UPOA secretory Dr Dhirendra Singh was himself present to observe election process. All meetings were followed by dinner.
Other events/incidences related to club:        This year we lost one of our senior member Dr R.K.gupta for which a condolence meeting was held on 25-4-08.        UPOA Bholanath visiting fellowship was awarded to Dr Alok sharma for year 08.        Dr Sheel Verma attended lucknow-pune fellowship from 16-11-08 to30-11-08 for two weeks in Sancheti institute of orthopedics and rehabilitation.     Our senior member and past president,Dr Sanjay Jain developed a WEBSITE of Orthopedics which is now official website of UPOA. Dr Dhirendra Singh,our senior club member,was elected SECRETORY,UPOA for yr 2008.Our past secretory,Dr Apoorva Agarwal was elected member,executive committee,UPOA for year 2008. Dr Achal Swami,past secretory of club,was elected Joint-secretory of UPOA for 2008. This year again,we received BEST CLUB AWARD for year 2007. This year,three new members joined club as Life-Members.
